STRAIGHT AHEAD AND SWINGIN'

This is Beverly's jazz group, most often found at clubs, like The Rex Hotel Jazz and Blues Bar, Chalkers Pub, and The Gladstone Hotel, as well as charity events, concert series and corporate functions. In a duo, trio, quartet or quintet setting, Beverly and company play select standards from the Great American Songbook, as well as lesser-known repertoire by favourite composers. Over the years, Beverly’s group has featured some of the city’s finest musicians, including pianists Robi Botos, Adrean Farrugia, Mark Kieswetter, Gordon Webster and Richard Whiteman; guitarists Nathan Hiltz, David Occhipinti, and Reg Schwager; bassists Lenny Boyd, Brandi Disterheft, Jordan O’Connor, and Steve Wallace; drummers Archie Alleyne, Jesse Baird, Nick Fraser and Sly Juhas; and horn players Bob Brough, William Carn, Chris Gale, Bob Mover and Richard Underhill. These performances usually include a sampling of bossa nova, '20s era swing, and french chanson, alongside uptempo grooves, blues and ballads, and are enhanced by Beverly's deep connection to the lyrics, and to the audience.
