BEVERLY TAFT & THE BOSSA NOVA PROJECT

In the spring of 2005, Beverly premiered this tribute to Brazilian composer and icon Antonio Carlos Jobim (in English and Portuguese), at the Distillery Jazz Festival. The show features familiar and lesser-known numbers by Jobim and his contemporaries from the classic bossa nova era of the 1950s and '60s. The melodies, harmonies, rhythms and lyrics of the music are gorgeous and seem ideal for outdoor summer festivals, but also works in clubs and on indoor concert stages.

"Beverly and the Bossa Nova Project" was featured on the Mainstage of the Peterborough Jazz Festival in September 2006, opening for headliners Joe Sealy and the Blay Ambollay Sextet, and again at the 2009 Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival, at Dominion on Queen.
